Aoi Yuki Says “I Already Know What Happens”, The Apothecary Diaries Cast Teases Movie Story at Screening Event

A special theatrical screening event looking back on The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 was held in Tokyo on April 12, featuring voice actors Aoi Yuki (Maomao), Takeo Otsuka (Jinshi), and Asami Seto (Shisui / Loulan). During the event, the cast shared new insights about the upcoming Season 3 and the highly anticipated anime film set for release this December.

Following the screening of episodes 25–30 (Season 2, Episodes 1–6), the three actors appeared on stage holding plush versions of their characters and reflected on the series together with fans.

Yuki revealed that recording for Season 3 has already begun, highlighting how the scale of the production has grown:
“At first, it felt like we were gradually meeting new people, but by Season 3, the cast has become huge—so big that we can’t even all fit in the recording studio.”

She also emphasized the passion of the team, noting that everyone involved deeply loves the series. At the same time, she humorously added a voice actor’s perspective on working conditions:

“We still keep things efficient—oxygen is precious in the studio.”
Season 3 of the anime is scheduled to air in two split cours in October 2026 and April 2027.

Movie Hinted to Be “Something Big”

Yuki also teased the upcoming The Apothecary Diaries movie, which will feature an original story:
“Actually… I already know what the story will be.”

With a knowing smile, she added:
“It’s going to be something amazing… I wish I could say more.”

She described the film as a project truly worthy of the big screen:
“It’s the kind of story that really deserves a theatrical experience. It’ll be incredibly fun to watch on a large screen, while still delivering exactly what fans want from The Apothecary Diaries.”

Otsuka further revealed that the story is being newly written by original author Natsu Hyūga, prompting Yuki to express her gratitude for the involvement.

Meanwhile, Seto—whose character exited during Season 2—commented with a bittersweet smile:
“I’m really looking forward to it. I can’t wait.”

Her remark drew laughter from the audience.
